PAL – The revamping of the existing waste treatment line underlines the flexibility of an industry capable of developing tailor-made plants and consolidates its leadership in the Campania region.

The unsorted urban waste treatment line consists of a primary and a secondary screening of material (ground USW free from bulky waste) carried out using two sturdy, reliable and efficient drum screens in series. Material that has a particle size of less than 400 mm for the primary screen and less than 120 mm for the secondary screen.

The sorting process carried out at the plant generates two fractions:

  1. under-screening material: mainly represented by organic parts and inert material, together with plastic and shredded paper
  2. over-screening material: containing fractions of light goods mostly paper, film and rigid plastic, wood and materials with a fairly high calorific value.

Due to the need to act on an existing line, the client involved in the project instructed us to use the existing structures of decommissioned screens, thus also requiring an analysis of the loads of the new machine on the structures.

Therefore, the longitudinal axis of the screen has a slight inclination like the existing ones so as to promote the advancement of the material from the feed end to the discharge end.

The rotating drum screen proposed has some peculiarities that make it stand out on the market: solid structure, grids with cleaning system fitted with thick Hardox plates, drum lifting system for prolonged stops to avoid wheel out-of-roundness, Hardox-coated hoppers, centralised and automated lubrication system, retractable bridge for access to the drum, light inside the fairing.

Moreover, upon request, the Screen can be fitted with a grid disassembly system with hoist, electric hoist on rotating column for unloading grids onto the ground, gearmotors and support wheels in the event of maintenance, fall-preventing walkway for operators.
